This was my first piece that went beyond simply recreating an object as realistically as possible. It carries a deeper message about how we once preserved our memories, before everything was stored in the cloud and instantly available. We made mixtapes, received photographs on CDs, and kept physical copies of the moments that mattered. If those objects were lost or damaged, sometimes the memories connected to them felt lost as well.

I created this piece as a reminder of just how fragile memories can be. It is about appreciating the experiences that shape us, both the positive and the difficult, and recognising that the most meaningful memories are not stored on a disc, a tape, or in the cloud. They are carried with us, in the one place that matters most: our minds.
