321… Time

The artwork
321… Time is the most challenging drawing I have ever created. The level of detail seems almost endless. Nearly every surface is built from incredibly fine lines and tiny dots, carefully layered to recreate the texture and reflections of brushed metal.
The artwork took more than a year and over 800 hours of drawing to complete. Thousands of lines, circles, dots, reflections, and tiny mechanical components slowly came together, one layer at a time. At times, the sheer amount of detail was almost overwhelming — but that was also what made the piece so fascinating to create.
The idea actually started with a local watch store. They had purchased my two previous watch artworks, and when I stopped by to see them hanging on the wall, they mentioned that if I ever wanted to draw another watch, I should take a closer look at this particular movement.
So I did.
And once I saw it, I simply couldn’t get the idea out of my head.
What started as a recommendation became more than a year of work and my most ambitious drawing to date. In a way, the process became perfectly connected to the subject itself: a drawing about time that demanded an extraordinary amount of it.
