Moonwatch - Original

NOK 31,500.00

An iconic watch seen from the other side — where the mechanics become the artwork.

The Story

Moonwatch was created during a period when I became fascinated by watches, particularly the mechanical world hidden inside them.

There is something remarkable about a mechanical movement: hundreds of tiny components, gears and springs working together with extraordinary precision to measure time without relying on electricity.

After completing Rolex, I wanted to explore another iconic watch, but from an entirely different perspective. Instead of focusing on the recognizable exterior, I wanted the mechanics to become the subject.

The Omega Speedmaster Moonwatch was a natural choice. Its transparent caseback reveals a complex mechanical landscape that is normally hidden against the wrist.

Together, Rolex and Moonwatch became a natural pair. One presents an icon from the front; the other turns it around and celebrates the craftsmanship, precision and engineering hidden beneath the surface.

The Process

Moonwatch was drawn entirely by hand using colored pencils, with particular attention given to recreating the different characteristics of metal, glass, reflections and the intricate components of the movement.

Layer upon layer of colored pencil was used to build depth and create the illusion of polished and brushed metal, while the smallest mechanical elements were constructed individually to preserve the complexity of the original movement.
